Removing a database on FMP Server

Hello.

I know that I need to close a database before removing it from the server. But for some reason it says there's a client within it, where I can't remove it. I found out the client is a script that was running in the database I closed. How can I either open this database back up or remove it with this client attached? I've already tried to "open" the database back up to remove the script from running in it, but it won't let me. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

"Insert Text" Replacing the entire field when using web direct

Hi All,

I work I little script which inserts text.  It is written so it will insert text at the curser position. I deselected replace the entire field. The script works correctly locally and through remote client; however, it replaces the entire field when run through web direct.

Is this a bug in the Insert Text command or a limitation in web publishing?

FileMaker 13 Server fails to start upon reboot (18 Comments)

Hi all,

I am running into a problem whereby FMS 13 does not start upon rebooting my server computer. I have auto-start configured to be on. When I reboot, the server does not run, and I must enter the command "sudo launchctl start com.filemaker.fms" into Terminal to manually re-start the server.

Can anyone please offer me any advice?

I changed a database, went onto the server - stopped old database - deleted - and then installed the new one.  But, I didn't download the information that was already on the old database from today prior.........is there a way of accessing it?

I believe it should clearly state that Go Daddy SHA-2 certificates are NOT supported, especially since Go Daddy will ONLY allow SHA-2 on new certificates with expiration dates after Jan. 1, 2017: http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/4818/information-about-requiring-the-sha-2-hash-function

After a reboot of my FileMaker Server 13/Mac OS X 10.9 machine, I need to take action automatically once FMS is up and running.

How can I determine the "up-ness" of FileMaker Server via Terminal? How can I perform an action (run a BASH script, AppleScript, etc.) once FMS is up, stable and available for remote access?

FMS 11 Password Reset

I need to reset the admin user id and password for our FMS-11 installation and have read the KB on how to do this. I am concerned about the warning contained in the KB about losing any Schedules and non-default settings.  since the developer is no longer available and we have no documentation on what he did, is there some way for me to tell if we have any schedules or non-default settings in our configuration that will be lost?  We do have a few users who have admin rights from the client based application.  

this is the specific message in the KB:  WARNING: Any schedules and non-default settings will be lost. Backups, Databases, and Plug-ins will NOT be touched by this process.

Go Daddy Standard Wildcard SSL does not work for FileMaker Pro

I've just installed a Go Daddy Standard Wildcard SSL on a FileMaker 13.0v4 server (via fmsadmin certificate command line tool). It works great for CWP, WD, and Admin Console, but doesn't give the green lock icon or a Get ( ConnectionState ) = 3.

When I upgraded our Filemaker Server (V13.03.300) by replacing the boot volume with an SSD,  clients (V13.0v3) are no longer able to see the interactive content in container fields.

The boot volume was cloned with Carbon Copy and the system is running as expected, but the interactive content is no longer visible. 

I created a layout with 2 copies of the container field, 1 as interactive and the other as image.  The content shows up in the image container, just not the interactive.

I need to create a schedule on our FileMaker 13 server running on a Windows host. I remote into the server and use IE 8 to open the admin web page. Most things seem to work, but when I try to create a new schedule, once I've selected what type of schedule (FileMaker Script, for example), nothing happens, and I cannot see anything to click or select. See attached screenshot.

I've tried connecting from elsewhere on our network but IT appears to have safeguards in place to prevent that.

Web Publishing Engine process has terminated abnormally

I have a CWP solution that servers .jpg files from container fields. It has been running for 2 weeks.

Then suddenly the last 3 days the WPE terminates.

I can go to terminal and restart with "fmsadmin restart wpe" and "fmsadmin restart fmse".

System Environment : Windows 8.1 64bit, fresh install of FM Server 13.0.1.228

 After logging into admin console, "session expired - click here to continue" error message is displayed

How do I stop session being terminated and making it impossible to use server.

So, on my test 10.9 server...

I uninstalled FMSA 12, installed and configured FMS 13.   All the installation steps worked as expected (and the installer prompted me to that my sites that run on port 80 and 443 would be disabled.)

If I check Server.app post-FMS 13 install -- "Websites" is turned "off".  No errors were generated by the deployment and I *only* enabled WebDirect (not XML or PHP) to see how this is suppose to work.

Once installed, my clients can connect to my databases without issue.

However, if I try to test the "Sample" database -- at https://<hostname>fmi/webd#FMServer_Sample

There is a small grey spinning wheel on the web page and then I get this:

Custom Web Publishing Technology disabled; WebDirect is turned OFF.

But, according to the FMS 13 Admin Console, "Enable FileMaker WebDirect" is turned on.  

 

I toggled this and -- after maybe 10 minutes -- the Sample database *does* finally come up in a web browser (no idea why it took so long...)   So maybe it's working?

 

At this point, I restarted my server.

After my 10.9 Server restarted, I waited about 10 minutes.

I go back to the sample database URL.

and I get this:

Not Found

The requested URL /fmi/webd was not found on this server.

If I go back to the Sample database URL.

And if I open "Server.app" -- "Websites" is now turned back *on*. (!)

If I turn Websites back *off* (remember, it *was turned off* after installation) and I go back to the URL, I now get this:

 

Websites are turned off.

An administrator can turn them on using the Server application.

 

I reboot the server a second time -- "Websites" stays "off" in Server.app this time.

But, after this second reboot, even the admin-console does not come up -- until about 8 minutes after the server has restarted.

And, as above, "Websites are turned off" if I try to reopen the sample database in a browser.

 

So, because I use OSX Server for Client database authentication ("external server accounts"), I can not uninstall OSX Server (as listed as a possible recommendation in the "getting started" PDF.

 

What am I missing here?   It *sounds* like some Apache conflict, but I don't know where to look here...

I need to reset the admin user id and password for our FMS-11 installation and have read the KB on how to do this. I am concerned about the warning contained in the KB about losing any Schedules and non-default settings.  since the developer is no longer available and we have no documentation on what he did, is there some way for me to tell if we have any schedules or non-default settings in our configuration that will be lost?  We do have a few users who have admin rights from the client based application.  

this is the specific message in the KB:  WARNING: Any schedules and non-default settings will be lost. Backups, Databases, and Plug-ins will NOT be touched by this process.

I am moving 20 databases that were hosted on FMS 12 to a new FMS13 server. Both are configured identically. When I access the databases using FMP 13 Client on the FMS 13 server with an admin account that has full-access, I can't add new records. I can edit existing ones. New record is greyed out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
